# Hey there Welcome to the site for the [Very Normal YouTube Channel](https://youtube.com/@very-normal). The goal of Very Normal is to make people better at statistics, and this site furthers that goal. You can stay updated by signing up for the channel newsletter too. <div style="text-align: center;"> <iframe src="https://verynormal.substack.com/embed" width="480" height="320" style="border:1px solid #EEE; background:white;" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> </div> ## Who wrote this? My name is Christian, and I'm currently a Ph.D candidate in Biostatistics. For my privacy, I'll write where I go after I graduate. I also have a Master's in the same topic at Columbia University. I like talking about statistics — hence the YouTube channel and this website. I think that the world would be better off if people had more access to quality education material for statistics. I'm still working on the quality part, but the material is constantly being made. ## What kind of stuff is on this site? Currently, I'm working on something called the Statistical Garden. It is a digital garden which I want to contain most — hopefully all — of the things I learned in graduate school. It is my way of sharing my knowledge with others. Go see it at the [[Entrance|entrance page]]. ## Why does this site look like this? I use [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/) as my knowledge management system. Obsidian makes it easy to create linked notes, and it also provides a service for hosting a website that also enables this wiki structure ([Obsidian Publish](https://obsidian.md/publish)). This site is powered by Obsidian Publish. I know that other (free) options are available, but I want to support the people at Obsidian. These linked notes make concrete what I believe to be the basis of long-lasting knowledge: a network of concepts. In my opinion, notes in this form are more useful than notes in their usual form: lists of facts. Related topics get linked together, making it easier to see the bigger picture.
